Baby Mama Brand Supplements: All Hype?

Baby Mama Brand Supplements: All Hype?

Being a marketer and in the nutrition space, I am always trying to keep up with the latest trends in the industry. After reviewing Google Trends over the past 30 days, there was one brand that was considered a "breakout"...and that was Baby Mama brad supplements. This was confirmed by an associate of mine that also told me about this brand trending in Google Shopping. So after this evidence, I just had to take a look at what this brand was all about.

Hop Aboard the Gummy Train!

Gummies are all the rage in 2024. I would say that more than 1/2 of the "breakout" supplement this year were gummies. Goli started this trend years ago with Apple Cider Vinegar, and companies found out that customers just love gummies, and start releasing all sorts of "healthy" gummies. This year I have seen:

  • Gummy Vitamins
  • Gummy Testosterone Boosters
  • Gummy Pump & Nitric Oxide Increasers
  • Gummy Creatine
  • Gummy BCAA's
  • ...and the list goes on.

I have two big issues with gummies. One...they are not healthy. They usually have unwanted calories and sugars to make them taste good. Two...you normally can't get the amount of ingredients that you can from capsules, tablets and powders.

The only positive I can say about gummies is that they tend to make people actually take them. If someone has a gummy they can eat, it helps to keep them on schedule, which can be tough with other forms.

But enough with gummies, let's get back to Baby Mama Supplements.

My Issues

Looking at the website, they have three main products:

Fertilemama: This gummy supplement is supposed to help you be more fertile when you are trying to conceive. They don't specifically say that, but that is my assumption. What I don't like about this product, there are no ingredients show on the product page. I really couldn't find the ingredient list anywhere. Why not have this listed on your page or at least a picture of the back of the bottle? But I do like that they are offering this sort of product. Knowing a few women that went through IVF over the years, finding the right ingredients in one supplement is hard. But again, I really don't know what is in this.

Pregomama: This is a product for when you are pregnant. Being in the nutrition space, I know how important it is that women get all the vitamins they need for a growing baby. I do like here that they actually list out the ingredients. And there are a ton of them. This is though where I have an issue. In my opinion it is underdosed compared to some of the supplements that we sell. Here is an example:

Name of BrandGarden of Life Raw PrenatalBaby Mama Pregomama
Vitamin A1300mcg288mcg
Vitamin C120mg28.8mg
Folate800mcg480mcg
Pantothenic Acid7mg2.4mg

As you can see the dosage for each of these ingredients in the Baby Mama Pregomama is much less than the Garden of Life Raw Prenatal. You can go through and compare the rest (same results) between the two. Here is a link to the Garden of Life Raw Prenatal.

With this, you are also looking at paying twice the price for the Baby Mama Pregomama than the Garden of Life Raw Prenatal...for less ingredients. Your basically paying for their marketing and the gummy.

Newmama: This is of course a vitamin supplement for a new mother. Very similar ingredients to the Pregomama. The only difference:

  • Newmama: Dandelion 200 mg (20:1), Nettles 100 mg (10:1), Peppermint 100 mg (4:1).
  • Pregomama: Raspberry Leaves 100 mg.

  • For post natal support I would recommend something like New Chapter Postnatal vitamins. Again, here are some examples of ingredients:

    Vitamin A:

    New Chapter: 5000 IU (beta-carotene)

Baby Mama: 288 mcg RAE (Retinyl Palmitate)

    Vitamin C:

    New Chapter: 60 mg

    Baby Mama: 28.8 mg

    Vitamin D3:

    New Chapter: 2000 IU

Baby Mama: 32 mg (approx. 1280 IU)

    Vitamin E:

    New Chapter: 36 IU

Baby Mama: 9 mg (approx. 13.5 IU)

    Vitamin K:

    New Chapter: 80 mcg

Baby Mama: 28.8 mg (28800 mcg)

    Thiamine:

    New Chapter: 4 mg

    Baby Mama: 0.096 mg

You can see that the New Chapter Postnatal Vitamins have much higher doses of the main ingredients. This is just a small snapshot, but you can compare the rest yourself and see the results are basically the same.

    So What Should You Do?

This is my recommendation. Again, I am not a doctor. I am just a marketing guy that's been in the nutrition space for about 15 years. These are just my opinions. If you think eating the gummies will make it easier to take your pre/post natal vitamins each day, then that would be best. It is much better than forgetting them or not taking them at all. If you are a stickler to keeping your nutrition on point when pregnant or post-pregnancy, then go with a vitamin that has more of what you need. Yes, they are tablets and capsules, but it will be worth it to get all the nutrition you need during this amazing time in your life.
