Nature's Way standardized Uva Ursi is a Scientifically advanced herbal extract standardized to 20% arbutin, the constituent which is the primary focus of the herbs therapeutic effects. Uva Ursi leaves were officially a drug for urinary antiseptic in the U.S. Pharmacopoeia and the National Formulator from 1820 until 1950. It was first used by Welsh physicians in the 13th century. Uva Ursi contains the glycoside arbutin, which has antimicrobial properties and acts as a mild diuretic. It has been used for urinary tract complaints, including cystitis and urolithiasis. An infusion may be made by soaking the leaves in ethanol and then diluting with water.
